Parish Meeting - Minutes

The minutes from the most recent meeting in June are now available to view.

Lathbury Manor

Following the closure of Lathbury Manor Care Home, the building was put on the market on July 7th by estate agents Walker Singleton.

Final offers were due by noon on August 27th.

The Parish Meeting Committee is keeping a close watch on this. We will publish updates as and when there is news on the purchaser and their plans for the building.

We have asked our ward councillors to ensure that any planning application for change of use will be considered by the MKCC Planning Committee and not be delegated to officers for a decision.

NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH

Our local Neighbourhood Watch helps residents work together to keep our parish a safe, friendly and welcoming place to live.

Neighbourhood Watch encourages neighbours to look out for one another, share information about local concerns and stay informed about issues affecting the community. It also provides a useful link between residents and the relevant authorities and community organisations.

If you have a concern about an issue in the neighbourhood, or would like to find out more about getting involved, please contact our local Neighbourhood Watch leader:

Sue Ashworth
Neighbourhood Watch Coordinator

Everyone is encouraged to take an interest in the wellbeing of our local community and to look out for their neighbours.

Our Community Police Support Officer

Lathbury’s PCSO is Lesley Rogers.

Lesley can be contacted at lesley.rogers@thamesvalley.police.uk about community matters and local events, but don’t use this email to report incidents or crime.

For non-emergencies, call 101, or 999 in an emergency. You can also sign up to Thames Valley Police Alerts to get crime updates, information on current incidents and crime prevention.

HUT HIRE

Hut Hire is £8 per hour for social use and £10 per hour for commercial use.

Please download the pdf and fill in the appropriate details to make your booking.

Planning Matters

Current planning applications in or affecting Lathbury will be signalled here. There are no current applications in the parish. You can view planning applications, submit comments, and find further information through the Milton Keynes City Council planning portal.

All Saints Church

The church plays an important part in many aspects of village life.

All Saints Church in Lathbury is a Grade 1 listed building and one of the oldest churches in North Buckinghamshire, with parts dating back to the early 12th century. It has medieval wall paintings, historic texts, a restored clock, and a stained-glass window.

The church is an important part of village life, hosting monthly services as well as weddings, baptisms and funerals. The local community has raised funds over the years to help preserve the building. The church is also a popular wedding venue, seating around 110 people and featuring historic bells and an organ.

You are entitled to marry here if either you or your partner lives in Lathbury, Newport Pagnell or Moulsoe, or you have links with any of the churches in those parishes. There may also be other circumstances in which permission may be granted.

Lathbury's History

Lathbury has a rich history, shaped by the people, families and events that have made our village what it is today.

We also remember the Lathbury families whose lives were affected by the First World War. A detailed PDF records information about these families and helps preserve their stories for future generations.

A watercolour of Lathbury Bridge by Harry Noel Lever, painted in circa 1920, recently acquired at auction by a resident. The parish boundary is along the road over the bridge.
